Sick Hospital and By-election

To repair or build a public hospital may require special occasion such as a by-election.  For example, Kajang Hospital and Klang Hospital are sick, waiting for the Government to take action.
On the eve of the Kajang by-election, the Government approves RM10 million to improve the Kajang Hospital. A new hospital may need  RM1 billion or more.
On the other hand, there is no by-election in Klang. The Government dithers.

Be fair & reasonable in redeliniation of electoral boundaries

In 1976, I pressed for fair and reasonable redeliniation of electoral boundaries in Malaysia. The main reason was the big difference in the number of electors between rural and urban constituencies. A rural constituency could have 20,000 voters whereas an urban constituency could have 100,000 voters.
In 1957, the difference between the number of voters in rural and urban constituencies was no more than 15%. The Federal Constitution was amended to put the difference as not more than 50%. It has been amended further, making tbe difference in the number of voters between rural and urban  constituencies as limitless.
The discrepancies between rural and urban constituencies remain. We press the Election Commission to ensure that redelineation of rural and urban electoral boundaries and the number of electorate are fair and reasonable.

Malaysia can bid for the Olympics in 15 years?

Russia spends US $50 billion to hold the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Will Malaysia be in a position to bid for the Summer Olympics?
Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (Asum) secretary Edwin Chong says that this country can make a serious bid for the Olympics in 15 years. What are the implications?

To be independent MACC needs support of 148 MPs.

We propose that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is converted into a service commission--to be truly independent.  The MACC Act must be amended to make it more effective. Minister Datuk Low repeats the proposal. It needs the support of over 148 members of parliament.

Dengue threatens

Last year, Malaysia recorded 46, 364 cases of dengue with 92 deaths. More people will be infected. Aedes mosquitoes carry dengue virus; they sting their victims easily.
Aedes breeds in still and clear water within and outside residential houses including leaves retaining water on trees. They thrive.
Thousands of house owners have received notices of compounds imposed by local authorities. More will have to pay fines because Aedes-breeding sites are found in the vicinity of their houses.
