Bank fraud by abusing the name of Bank Negara

Since January 2014, an international ring so-called Macau scam has been preying on Malaysians. The criminals misuse the name of Bank Negara seemingly to investigate money laundering. As victims' names are 'mentioned', they have to give 'Bank Negara investigating officer, IO' the details of their bank accounts and credit cards. Hence, the criminals steal.
In any investigation, Bank Negara does not reveal the names and telephone numbers of their investigating officers.
Bank managers know about the Macau fraud. They have briefed the tellers. Yet, some do not protect their clients.

Incinerator:separation of rubbish, good plant, good technicians and good maintenance

There is much debate on solid waste (rubbish) incinerator. A modern incinerator is very expensive. What is seen in the middle of cities such as Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei and Amsterdam are incinerators that follow definite criteria which include good plant, good technicians, good maintenance, and, (most important) the separation of rubbish.

Football World Cup: playing on form decides the fate

Football is the most popular and the most commercialised sport in the world. The World Cup competitions in Brazil provide the excitement and the atmosphere.

The fate of the previous World Cup holders such as Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy and Uruguay depends on their form.

Individual skills, layout, strategy and a good coach make a team go a long way. But, that something extra is needed.

For example, England 1, Uruguay 2; Costa Rica1, Italy 0. So, England is out of the competition. France is in a better form than England.

Defending champion of the world cup!

World Cup football, Brazil 2p14: Chile 2, Spain 0. Spain is the defending champion and twice winner of  European Cup. Now it is out of the competition.

Effective action to ensure Sabah security

Three kidnappings occurred in Sabah in the past three months. They affect not only tourism, but also the national image. Although Sabah shoreline is over 1000 kilometer and there are hundreds of islands,  the Government should take effective action to ensure security and to restore confidence.

Amicable solution between MAS management and unions

Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) is facing difficulty, aggravated by the disappearance of MH370. Hitherto Khazanah Holdings Berhad has injected RM5 billion into the company. There should be no more bail-out. MAS management and unions should reach an amicable solution for mutual and national interests. Taking care of workers is important. Taking care of the company and the country is equally important.

MACC must shows its effectiveness

Ernst and Young survey shows that some 83% of the respondents in Malaysia confirm that their companies have an anti-bribery/anti-corruption policy and code of conduct. Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) must show that it is effective.

MAS saga aggravated by MH370 mystery

MAS saga has been going on for years, aggravated by the March 8 MH370 mystery. After Khazanah Nasional Berhad announces its intention to draft a plan to rescue MAS in six months, many are worried. Hitherto, Khazanah has injected RM5 billion into MAS. How many more billions of public fund?

Separation of rubbish

The separation of solid waste (rubbish) is important. Once separated into various types of waste, they are easier to handle. Sanitary landfill can process the separated waste better. Incinerator can then function successfully.
It is difficult to see the practice of separation of rubbish in Malaysia. For example, Kuala Lumpur City Hall does not provide facility for such a purpose.
Advanced countries such as Austradia, Denmark, Japan and Sweden have waste separation. When can Malaysia attain an advanced status? 20 years? The Government wants to make Malaysia becoming an advanced country by 2020.

Monitor sources of financing of political parties

In Malaysia,  some political parties have unlimited resources to carry out political activities. Who can keep an eye on political financing?
The debates on this issue continue. Meanwhile, things go on as usual.
There is a need to monitor the sources of financing and the various ways these funds are obtained. We require a body to keep watch on these funds. We need time and hard work to make the body effective and fair.

MH370 mystery and MAS saga

There are wellknown sagas in Malaysia such as Proton Saga and MAS saga. The mysterious disappearance of MH370 on March 8, 2014 aggravates the MAS saga. How does MAS overcome the current crisis? How much more public fund will have to be poured in?
We need to help the families of the MH239 victims of the ill-fated MH370, the search for which is still going on in southern Indian Ocean. We like to unravel the mystery.
The MAS management must be improved in a big way in order to get over the crisis and to survive the current commercial travel industry. Cutting cost may be one of the steps.

Serious efforts to find Huntley in Tioman jingle

The MH370 mystery lingers. An Englishman, Gareth Huntley, has wandered into the jungle of Pulau (Island)Tioman, Malaysia,  but has not reappeared. Apparently, the authorities have sent 47 personnel and a tracker dog unit to search for Gareth.  His mother appeals to the Government to step up the search.

White cranes

It is important to protect the environment. This includes proper ways of dealing with Malaysian white cranes. They congregate in areas where they can find food such as fish and worms. One of the areas is in Jinjang North, in particular around the solid waste (rubbish) transfer station at Taman Beringin.
White cranes compete with crows at sites with rotting rubbish full of worms and foul odour. They perch on trees, not only those near the transfer station but also on tall trees in Jinjang North, like those along Jalan Jinjang Permai 3. While environmentalists are happy with the thriving cranes, residents in the area live with bird droppings and feathers. Birds carry diseases.
The Kuala Lumpur City Hall needs to prune the trees on which white cranes perch to reduce their droppings and feathers that interfere with daily human life. The Solid Waste Management Department must deal with the foul odour effectively and the Environment Department must help the white cranes.
