Blatter and Platini banned

The Ethics Committee of Fifa has suspended Fifa president Seff Blater and Uefa head Michel Platini for eight years from all activities related to football. They were found guilty of breaches on paying Platini USD2 million in 2011. Both men deny the charge, refusing to accept the ruling and insisting on fighting back.

Fifa is Federation Internationale de Football Association is the world governing body of football. It is plagued with accusations of corruption. Uefa is Union of European Football associations, which rules football in Europe.

We must get rid of corruption in football.

Put world leaders in space station for one month

Astronauts and cosmonauts spend months in a big cabin at the international space station. Yesterday, by a special arrangement, CNN's Amanpour interviewed Kelly Scott(American astronaut) and Mikhail Korniyenko (Russian cosmonaut) who talked about astraunauts from various nations (the latest being Briton Tim Peake) getting on amicably. Both said, "Let world leaders spend one month together at the space station."

The UN Security Council passed a resolution on Syria's peace plan. US and Russia must cooperate, otherwise it will be difficult to succeed.

Crude oil prices below USD40 a barrel

2016 Malaysian budget is RM267.2 billion with revenue collection projected at RM225.7 billion.   This is based on crude oil price of over USD50 a barrel. Oil-related revenue is estimated at RM31.7 billion. Now, the confusion in OPEC with its surplus makes the price of crude oil falls below USD40 per barrel.

The Auditor-General Department is busy including the investigation of 1MDB. The department's 2016 budget has been reduced from RM1,254,000 to RM766,000. The work increases, but the money is RM488,000 less. This is improper.

Security area or state of emergency

Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan winds up the debate on the National Security Bill 2015, saying that the bill is based on Article 74 of the Federal Constitution. It empowers the Prime Minister to declare certain area in Malaysia as a security area. Whether it is declared a security area or a state of emergency, the most important is don't abuse the laws.

After the June 5, 2015 earthquake, visitors can climb Mount Kinabalu now. Is the height still 4,095 metres (13,435 feet)? We reached Low's peak about 20 years ago. We feel that the authorities must look after the mountain better. They must keep an eye on all activities including waste disposal effectively.
