Inflation in Malaysia

Khazanah Research Institute says inflation in Malaysia is 3.6% whereas the Government presents it as 2.4%. The Ministry of Consumerism explains to the House that enforcement by itself does not change inflation rate. The increase in the ptice of goods is due to many factors such as the original price of farmers, the cost of transport and the value of ringgit.

National debt RM655.7 billion

Datuk Seri Najib tells the House that, up to June this year, the total of national debts is RM655.7 billion, that is 53.5% GDP, Gross Domestic Product. Malaysians want the Government to reduce the burden. Don't increase national debts.

Malaysia and maize

Agriculture Minister Datuk Seri Sabri Chik tells the House that Malaysia imports 3 million tonnes of maize a year and needs 400000 hectares to plant suitable species. The ministry is experimentng. Our neighbour, Thailand, can plant three crops of paddy a year and it also grows maize.

Foreign investment in Malaysia

World economy is not good. Datuk Seri Najib says that the Government has approved foreign investment totalling RM28 billion such as Osram nearly RM5 billion. Malaysians want to know the actual projects like building factories, taxes, environment and employment including foreign workers.

The Government collects nearly RM30 billion

"With the recent fall in oil prices, it is estimated a loss of Government's revenue by RM30 billion a year," says Datuk Seri Najib in the House. "I am pleased to report, the GST collection has reached nearly RM30 billion by 19 Octobrr  2016." The Government must be fair. It must monitor prices of goods and services effectively.

High tides and mangroves

Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi has told the House that hightides occur twice a months as the noon is nearer the earth at that time. Serious hightides erode sea shores. He says that since 2006 the Government has spent RM50 million to plant 6 million mangrove trees. Ho many still survive? In the past 10 years, is the number of mangrove trees desyroyed more than 6 million?

The effects of climate change

The Minister for Environment and Natural Resources Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi has stated in the House that the earth temperature in Malaysia, averaging 28.5 °C, has not changed since 1969. Climate change such as warming of the earth causes bad effects.

The Paris Agreement under the United Nations is effective on 4 November, 2016, with reduction of greenhouse gases emissions starting from 2020.

According to the minister, Malaysia has yet to follow the conditions in the above-stated agreement.

Wells Fargo Bank of America created three million false accounts. 5000 members of staff have lost their jobs. Now, Chief Executive Officer, Stumpf, has resigned because of the scandal.

Monitor government costing more than RM500 million

Political funding

Chairman of Political Funding Consultative Council Datuk Paul Low insists on revealing the names of controbuters, failure to submit the statement on the money contributed is an offence and the controller must be independent. As political funding concerns political workers, the council must be seen to be truly not favouring any side. It should get their views. The controller must be effective and really independent.

Raising parking fees in KL

There are too many cars and too few parking spaces in cities. Kuala Lumpur City Hall wants to overcome this problem. It ecourages city folks to use public transport and increases parking fees. It must enforce fairly and reasonably, getting rid of a few persons who exploit the situation.

Nearly 3 million Malayians are 60 years and above. Some are abandoned by their children. Occasionally, those in care centres are abused as reported in Klebang, Malacca,showing two senior citizens being abused. All people must treat senior citizens well.

Poachers kill Afican elephants for tusks to supply the illegal ivory trade. They will hunt these animals to extinction unless effective ways are found to stop killings and smuggling . As a major market, China must do something to stop the trade.
