An independent Inquiry into the death at the Selangor MACC

DAP National Deputy Chairman and MP for Kepong Dr Tan Seng Giaw calls on the Federal Government to carry out a truly independent inquiry into the death of Teoh Beng Hock at the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Shah Alam on 16.7.2009.

Dr Tan comments on the death of Teoh who was a political assistant for the DAP Seri Kembangan state assemblyperson Ean Yong Hian Wah. He was questioned as a witness.

MACC must be fair, just and impartial. It must fight corruption in the country effectively.

Apparently, at 5 pm on 15.7.2009, Teoh was called to the MACC and discharged at 3.45 am on 16.7.2009. The state MACC is at levels 14 & 15 of the Plaza Masalam complex.

Teoh's body was discovered at the bottom of the office building about 1.30 pm on 16.7.2009.

We need a truly independent inquiry into the tragedy which is a mystery.

Dr Tan Seng Giaw

YB,

You are an appointed member of one of the Committees in MACC Board of Trustees. Can you as a responsible DAP YB bring the issue right up to the MACC Main Advisory Body for an emergency meeting to look into the issue.

An innocent life is lost whilst being detained at the MACC Selangor office and there is no response from the MACC Board of Trustees.

I only hear isolated comments here and there. There must be a concerted effort by MACC responsible members to bring the culprit to book.

No stone should be left unturned.

You are appointed for your speaking without fear and favour and likewise we wished that you do the same in Teo Beng Hock's death issue.

The rakyat expects this minimum action from you and your colleagues in the MACC Board lest the whole Board should resign enbloc.

This issue is of national importance and we do not want more Kugan's , Beng Hock's etc. please.

Bare in mind that, you are one of the appointed MACC advisors panel.

What good will it make to call for inquiry when as one of the advisor that FAILED to assess the brutal inside MACC.

Are the title of MACC advisor justify one to involve in such murky stinky water?
