Magnanimity and forgiving
The British used to colonize over 90 percent of the countries in the world, including Malaysia and South Africa. They brought English and the British ways of life. They committed atrocities.
In South Africa, the apartheid Government imprisoned Mandela for 27 years and sacrificed his relatives and thousands of South Africans. When Mandela became president, he showed magnanimity and forgiving. He pardoned his opponents.
In Malaysia, during World War Two the Japanese Occupation and then the Emergency, Japanese army, British armed forces and Communist fighters killed thousands of people. Many were innocent. The communists assassinated our headmaster David Chen.
The former secretary-general of Malayan Communist Party died on September 16, 2013. We hope that the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib let his ashes be back in Malaysia.
