Local Governments and dangerous trees

Planting trees is important. But, there must be effective maintenance. Some municipalities or city halls take a long time to act after receiving complaints about trees on the verge of falling. For example, two weeks ago, residents in Jalan 24/62B, Taman Menjalara, Kepong, told Kuala Lumpur City Hall  (DBKL) repeatedly that a tree was about to fall.  They waited. Two days ago, a storm caused the tree to fall on electricity or telecoms lines. DBKL cleared the debris on the road.
Yestetday, a tree in Taman Kepong fell, killing a 41-year-old woman. This is near Menjalara. Only heavy damage and human casualties from falling trees prompt the authorities to take immediate action.
