Leachate Treatment Plant in Taman Beringin Kepong?

For over 40 years, residents of Jinjang and Kepong face pollution and bad smell from open dumpsites and then solid waste transfer station and leachate in Taman Beringin, Kepong.

In 2002, the authority appointed Pollution Engineering San Bhd to build a Leachate Treatment Plant, treating 200 cubic metres of leachate a day at the transfer station. It did not work.

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall appointed Worldwide Engineering Sdn Bhd in 2012 to construct a plant to treat 300 cubic metres of leachate daily. It also does not function properly.

Since last year,  the Housing and Local Government Ministry has taken over the transfer station and the leachate plant. It should ensure that both are working effectively, getting rid of the foul odour.
