Announce the total subsidies to Proton since 1983

Before Proton Holdings Berhad was established in 1983,  we told the Government that it was difficult to sustain the car maker. The main objective was said to create a downstream industry such as spare parts for a section of the community.
     In the past 31 years, how much public funds has been pumped into the company? We do not know. A figure of RM200 million has been mentioned as annual allocation for 'research and development'. Last year two figures were mentioned, namely RM74 billion and RM18. 8 billion, as subsidies to Proton.
