Better enforcement to protect the forest in Malaysia

Malaysia must step up the vigilance and the enforcement to protect her forest. There must be continuous efforts to do so. In 1990, this country declared in the Rio Summit that it would preserve at least 50 percent of its land under forest. The Government has repeated this pledge. Besides saying that the Government has investigated over 1,000 companies that infringed the environmental regulations, he has yet to reveal further details on how effective is the enforcement. Malaysians must be more vigilant on the environment, pressing the Government to improve its enforcement. As Pahang is said to have done all water catchment areas must be gazetted and protected.
