The IGP Tan Sri Ismail Omar says that in the two weeks of Aidilfitri

Op Selamat 1 was successful: 17,937 cases of traffic accidents (19,606

cases Ops Sikap 2011) & 243 deaths (289 in 2011). All must cooperate

to reduce traffic accidents. We need to follow up Op Selamat during

Chinese New Year and so forth before we can confirm its

effectiveness.

Repeal Article 114A Evidence Act, 2012.

Article 114A Evidence Act continues to cause controversy. It requires the accused to produce evidence, not the prosecutor. This is against legal principle. The Central Government insists on the Article. We hope it will reconsider.

Stop unwanton waste

Malaysian annual budget allocates billions of ringgits for the poor and the other disadvantaged. Many suspect the distribution of public funds lacks fairness. We need effective efforts to stop wanton waste.

A fair distribution of offshore oil royalty & revenue.

Malaysia has offshore oil reserves in Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak. They have been exploited for several decades. Oil royalties & revenues must be fairly distributed & the reserves carefully managed. Recently, the Central Government talks about The Special Committee to carry out a fair and transparent study on this issue. Malaysians wonder why this is done now and not before.

Suitable venue for anti-cyanide rally

The people of Bukit Koman, Raub, are worried about the effects of cyanide gold mining. The authorities should consider giving them a suitable venue for a peaceful anti-cyanide rally.

MACC

This year MACC has an allocation of RM212mil. It needs over RM360mil for 2013. It must look at the effectiveness of ICAC Hong Kong.

Bangladesh workers

Malaysia has millions of foreign workers, many of whom are illegal. Bangladesh wants to be recognized as a source country for workers. Although the Home Ministry has launched a campaign to register foreign workers, many are still illegal. There has been announcement of a Royal Commission in Sabah to deal with it. We would like to see more effective measures to deal with this complex issue.

BR1M RM500 a family

On September, 28, 2012, the 2013 Budget will be announced. Before the Finance Minister YAB Datuk Seri Najib hands out further billions as BR1M RM500 gifts, he should let the people know how fair he has distributed the RM500 to underprivileged households amounting to RM2.6 bil public fund.

The Government ignores legal principle

The Central Government insists that Section 114A of the Evidence Act stays because of more serious things such as terrorism. This section requires the accused to produce evidence. On the other hand, legal principle needs the prosecution to find evidence. The Government is against legal principle.

Bukit Koman, Raub, residents & the gold mine

Bukit Koman, Raub, residents are very worried about the effects of gold mining nearby. All mines must not interfere with the environment and the health of the people. The Government must provide the protection.

Op Selamat 1, home & road safety.

During the Hari Raya Aidilfitri period, the police introduce Op Selamat 1 to make homes and roads in Malaysia safer. The statistics will be announced later. We hope that the operation truly reduce road accidents and crimes at homes.

The World Table Tennis Singles Championship will be held in Beijing with China's world champion Zhang Jike & top players from Germany, Korea, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Ukraine, Danmark, Japan and UK. After the London Olympics, it will be interesting to see which players still maintain their form.

Puncak Niaga should be transparent

The media reports that Puncak Niaga which owns Syabas made a loss of RM75 mil last year & its directors' fees were RM17.2 mil. The Central Government should confirm whether these figures are correct & the action it has taken.

Avoid Detention Without Trial

YB Hisham says he has released 12 ISA detainees. Now that ISA has been repealed & replaced by Anti-Terrorism Act, he must explain the measures he has taken to avoid detention without trial.

On 11.8.12 & 17.8.12, Monorail broke down at Brickfields & Imbi respectively. The authorities should let us know the causes & the measures to ensure safety.

Apparently, YB Hisham admits that the Central Government never saw the need to focus on crime-busting until now. He must explain the ministry's strategy in handling crimes in Malaysia. We hope that he tries his best to improve the efficiency of crime-busting.

YB Rais says that Article 114A Evidence Act stands. This means millions of netizens are at risk. The burden of proof is on the accused, not one the prosecutor. This is against legal principle.

 

There must be effective laws against netizens who abuse the Internet such as wrongly accusing others. But, in a rule of law, the burden of proof is with the prosecution.

The Domestic Trade Minister Datuk Seri Ismail announces the control of ceilling prices for 20 essential goods during the Hari Raya celebration. We hope he uses effective measures to ensure that the prices are stable.

Start preparing for the Rio Olympics

Last night, the London Olympics ended. 15,000 athletes and coaches return home. Most of them will be training hard for the Rio Olympics in 2016. Malaysians should begin preparation now.

We have spoken against the Evidence Act in parliament such as Article 114A which places the burden of proof on the accused.  Millions of netizens are at risk under the act. We support Internet Blackout on 14-15.8.2012. The burden of proof must rest on the prosecution.

DAP is against Islamic State

With the impending general elections, the issue of Islamic State including Hudud appears frequently. Allegations against DAP in some media have no basis. DAP is against Islamic State. PM YAB Najib does not agree with Hudud in this country. The Federal Constitution has to be amended to have Islamic State in Malaysia. This requires two-third majority in Parliament. In this country, it is not possible.

In the London Olympics, Pandelela won the 10 metre platform diving bronze, the first for Malaysian women. We hope women athletes will try harder.

Jamaican Usain Bolt successfully defended his 100 and 200 metre titles as the greatest sprinter in Olympic history. He possesses something extra; his training & discipline are special.

Electricity & water: be fair to the people

There has been a controversy over water supply in Selangor. Some talk about water crisis. The water company admits that the supply is adequate. Now, a certain quarter mentions the possibility of electricity crisis. We should study the evidence carefully. The truth should prevail. The Government should ensure sufficient supply of electricity and water.

The Central Government Special Committee must let us know the criteria for giving Terengganu oil royalty for decades, but not for Kelantan. The oil wells are off the coast of Kelantan and Terengganu.

PM YAB Najib pledges to distribute fairly petroleum revenue to Pahang, Kelantan dan Terengganu. Oil and gas come off the coast of Sarawak, Sabah, Kelantan and Terengganu. All have had oil royalty for decades except Kelantan. Kelantan should have its share of the revenue. Lets see justice and reasonableness.

The Chairman of Public Service Commission  Tan Sri Mahmood Adam says that an applicant only needs a pass in SPM to join the Civil Service. Lets hope that he creates a conducive atmosphere to attract Non-Malays to join the Service.

Years of hard training for talented swimmers

US, Australia, Holland and others have monopolized swimming. In the London Olympics, so far three swimmers from China have won gold, namely Sun Yang 400 metre freestyle, Jiao liuyang 200 metre butterfly & Ye Shiwen 200 & 400 individual medly. Just like American & Australian swimmers, they are talented, training hard for many years.

PM YAB Najib mentions states failing to use the 2011 federal allocation of RM2,591.3 million for road mantenance. The Auditor-General's annual reports usually touch on this matter. There must be genuine attempts to improve transparency and accountability.

Olympic spirit does not allow throwing away matches

London Olympics expelled four pairs of women badminton double players. They are from China, Indonesia and Korea. They threw away matches in order to be in favourable position in the group stage. Indeed, Olympic spirit encourages an athlete to try his or her best in every event. This time, the World Badminton Association introduces a new format for badminton tournament. This has to be reviewed.

Open tender for KL beautification projek

The new Kuala Lumpur Datuk Bandar Datuk Hj. Ahmad Phesal says that the RM 30 million Beautification Project around Jalan Silang will be implemented soon. If this is done well, it will be good. This means that there must be open tender so that only a competent contractor is appointed.

The 16-year-old Chinese swimmer broke the world record to win the London Olymlpics 400 metre medley. Since aged 6, she has left home for training. She is 5 foot 8 inches tall, weighing 141 pounds with very large hands and feet. Some suspect that she has taken banned substances. The British Swimming Association insists that she is clean. Every athlete must undergo strict test against banned substances.
