Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Latheefa Koya are developing a comprehensive strategy to tackle environmental issues including poachers and polluters. These are complicated. We hope that the strategy is fair and sustainable.

British Parliament began in 1707. In the past three years, Brexit has made Britain and her Parliament very devided. Now, Boris Johnson becomes Prime Minister. Angry words such as humbug, too cowardly and surrender are used in debate.
Since 1957, occasional angry words are heard in Malaysian Parliament.

Trump says about environment

Trump says: "I know about environment, more than many people." What does he mean? Disasters like haze, forest fires, typhoon, floods, drought, islands under sea water and starvation？
     Millions of people on earth take part in climate protests, urging governments to do something such as preventing forest fires that cause haze.

Climate protest

Some Malaysians are worried when they see climate change getting worse. Teenage Greta Thunberg calls on youths in the world to rise up so that all governments take effective action to clean the air. For example, yesterday 500000 students had climate protest in Canada.

Malaysians keep an eye on the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act enforced by Singapore since 2014. Is it effective? We look for methods which are useful in preventing forest fires that cause haze.

The digital world sees more serious cybercrimes which take many forms. Tens of thousands of Malaysian victims have lost hundreds of millions of ringgits in scams such as Macau scam.

     Melaka Government wants to replant forest trees in catchment areas where there are plantations. We hope the wish is fulfilled. Many areas such as Ulu Muda, Kedah, need meaningful protection. It is Penang's catchment. All catchment areas must be gazetted and safeguarded.

Today, millions of school children and adults in 162 countries protest against the lack of effective action against climate change in the world.

Over 2,400 schools closed

Over 2,400 schools are closed in Malaysia because of haze. Some say that the nation needs effective laws to punish culprits who burn forests. Meanwhile, rainy season is not here yet.

President Joko says that he wants culprits of forest fires in Indonesia to be punished. Lets hope that firm action can prevent haze.

September is World Alzheimer's (dementia) Month. The world has more than 50 million Alzheimer's patients, including over 130,000 in Malaysia. The number increases. Geriatricians treat Alzheimer's and other diseases of senior citizens.

There is rain in some areas in Malaysia such as Petaling Jaya. We hope that this can reduce haze.

Wrong perception on haze

Forest fires and haze are due to many factors such as slash-and-burn, peat and hot and dry weather aggravated by climate change.
     I thought haze issue could be solved quickly. I made a mistake. President Joko says he wants to do something, but forest fires in Kalimantan and Sumatra make life difficult. We must overcome several things like old practice, poor enforcement, climate warming and diplomacy.

          British Parliament has passed a Bill that stipulates Brexit with a deal. Queen Elizabeth has signed it on 9.9.19. Prime Minister Johnson is finding ways to have Brexit on 31.10.2019. He may not consider firing ballistic missiles.

     In the US Tennis Open Men's Singles Final, Nadal overcame Medvedev by a whisker in five sets. The Spanish tennis veteran maintained his stamina, skills and mental strength over the young Russian.
