Greenhouse gases

Climate change and coal
     World Meteorological Organization says that the concentrations of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide) in the atmosphere have reached a high level in 2017. Carbon dioxide is 405 parts per million (ppm).
     Coal-fired power stations give out over 30% of carbon dioxide, mainly from Brazil, China, India, Japan, the US, Germany, France and UK. Trump loves coal.
     Malaysia has seven coal-fired power stations.

     We have spoken on this matter for many years. For example, the Public Prosecutor should be able to investigate and prosecute the Prime Minister without fear.

     Please look after the health of consumers.

     There are efforts in Malaysian cities to have more parks and more trees. For example, projects such as River of Life in Kuala Lumpur are meant to improve the environment. Can Malaysia have national park cities?

Myopia (short-sightedness or near-sightedness)
     This condition affects any age. But, there are more children with myopia, especially Asians. Is it 50% of people with the condition by 2050 or 90% in China?
      Malaysians are paying more attention to eye health such as reading with brighter light and sitting at least 3 metres from TV screen or 50 cm from computer screen. Myopia can be corrected by spectacles, contact lenses and surgery.

     In Malaysia wild fires cause haze. In other countries such as the US, these can destroy towns.
     Today, Trump visited Paradise, California, which has been destroyed by wild fire. Hitherto, 71 died and 1011 missing. The American President says wildfire is due to a lot of factors. He does not believe climate change is manmade.

Genocide

Genocide
     Within four years, 1975-1979, of Khmer Rouge party administration, about two million people were killed in Cambodia. Today, the United Nations Tribunal sentenced two leaders of the party who are still alive, Khiu Samphan (87) and Nuon Chea (92) to life imprisonment.  They have been serving a life sentence. The tribunal has spent US$300 million for the trial of three Khmer Rouge leaders.

     Malaysia must have effective measures to deal with waste.

Armistice

11 November, 2018, is the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, the agreement to stop the fighting involving Germany and others against France, United Kingdom, United States, and others in the First World War. About 20 million people died. There were also Africans, Indians and Chinese.
     In the past 100 years, we have seen more wars. Besides the Second World War, fighting continues. Now, there are conflicts in Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen.
