Crude oil price falls to US$53.36 per barrel (Brent). The US shale oil is a main competitor, giving Middle East and other producers a big challenge. Consumers are watchful.

World rangking for universities.
     Universities in Malaysia have tried to achieve higher global rangkings. For example, University of Malaya is 87 in the QS global rangkings.
     The Government needs to support universities including  good administration.

      Trump says that he is no longer interested in the Intermediate Range Missile Treaty and that America has more sophisticated nuclear warheads. Putin announces that Russia has tested supersonic nuclear missiles. The nuclear stockpiles of both countries can destroy humans on earth many times.

     Going through immigration in many countries may be unpleasant. Immigration Director-General Mustafar Ali considers having more counters and modern technology. He may be thinking of a better service.

     At the UN Conference in Poland, 200 countries have agreed to a deal to enforce the Paris Agreement 2015. Will it be effective in stopping global warming? Trump could not care less.

Prime Minister Theresa May has just survived no confidence motion from her Conservative Party. There are huge challenges.

Songbirds are kept in cages. Last week, Indonesia detained poachers and saved 8,000 birds. Every day, there may be over 15,000 wild birds in pet shops, Indonesia.
      What is happening in Malaysia? Early this year, 300 rare birds drowned as smugglers threw them into the sea to run away from the authorities.

2018 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report says that the world is
completely off track, heading more towards 3C temperature rise this century rather than 1.5C set by Paris Agreement. If this happens, it means serious consequences: more typhoons, floods, droughts, wilfires and rising sea water.

     Many Malaysians go to parks, many of which are littered with waste such as plastics. Most parks have rubbish bins. Taman Rimba Kiara, next to Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, has bins, but the forest (rimba) may be reduced to brush (belukar). Taman Kiara has no bins because monkeys rummage them. Some parts of the park are still scattered with rubbish.

     After the G20, a truce of the US-China trade war was applauded. Suddenly, Canada arrests the Chief  Financial Officer of technology giant Huawei, Meng Wan-zhou. Apparently the US is behind this. The trade war is hotting up?

     Tun Mahathir repeats his wish to redistribute national wealth.
      At all times the government should be sensitive, fair, clean, efficient and trustworthy.

Green energy

     Tenaga Nasional Berhad is expected to generate 20% as green energy for its need by 2025. It has started operation on its Large-Scale Solar plant in Sepang last month, aiming to produce 1,700 MW from 230,000 solar panels.
     We hope that it will eventually produce more than 20%  renewable energy in its electricity.

     Over 12 million tonnes of plastics are thrown into the ocean of the world each year. Malaysia has a multibillion ringgit market for plastics.
     People are watching the ways all state governments deal with plastic waste. How does Selangor Government plan to ban the import of plastics gradually in the next five years?
