Anything to make people love books is good. Perak State Library wants to pile up tens of thousands of books into a pyramid, hoping to break the Guiness World Record. It will be even more exciting if the library can encourage the most people genuinely read books, and the number breaking world record.

Power in the National Security Council Bill (NSC)

Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan repeats inthe Senate that the poeer in NSC given to the Prime Minister is limited. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong still had the power to declare a security area. This is controversial. Having too much power may be abused.

The Ethics Committee of Fifa has suspended Fifa president Seff Blater and Uefa head Michel Platini for eight years from all activities related to football. They were found guilty of breaches on paying Platini USD2 million in 2011. Both men deny the charge, refusing to accept the ruling and insisting on fighting back.

Fifa is Federation Internationale de Football Association is the world governing body of football. It is plagued with accusations of corruption. Uefa is Union of European Football associations, which rules football in Europe.

Put world leaders in space station for one month

Astronauts and cosmonauts spend months in a big cabin at the international space station. Yesterday, by a special arrangement, CNN's Amanpour interviewed Kelly Scott(American astronaut) and Mikhail Korniyenko (Russian cosmonaut) who talked about astraunauts from various nations (the latest being Briton Tim Peake) getting on amicably. Both said, "Let world leaders spend one month together at the space station."

The UN Security Council passed a resolution on Syria's peace plan. US and Russia must cooperate, otherwise it will be difficult to succeed.

The turmoil on human earth results in millions of people displaced. The United Nations Organization says it is 60 million, including over 4.2 million Syrian refugees. It is of utmost importance that Malaysia remains peaceful.

Chelsea manager Mourinho has been sacked because the team performs badly this season. Last year, he led the team to be the league champion. The league is so competitive.

World Bank estimates that the haze disaster from June to October, 2015, cost Indonesia USD16 billion. It affected tens of millions of people in South East Asia. We hope that WHO study the health situation in this region.

Paris Climate Agreement aims at stopping earth temperature rising over1.5°C. International Energy Agency estimates investment of USD16.5 trillion to achieve the objective. How will195 countries play their parts? The world is watching major polluters such as USA, India and China?

Crude oil prices below USD40 a barrel

2016 Malaysian budget is RM267.2 billion with revenue collection projected at RM225.7 billion.   This is based on crude oil price of over USD50 a barrel. Oil-related revenue is estimated at RM31.7 billion. Now, the confusion in OPEC with its surplus makes the price of crude oil falls below USD40 per barrel.

The budget of Auditor-General

The Auditor-General Department is busy including the investigation of 1MDB. The department's 2016 budget has been reduced from RM1,254,000 to RM766,000. The work increases, but the money is RM488,000 less. This is improper.

Security threat and international conferences

Ministers such as Datuk Khairy says that there is no security threat for having international conferences and championships of various sports in Malsysia. Now, there is doubt on World Women Squash Championship to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 11-18 December, 2015. The authorities must find out what actually happens. The Government must ensure that all preventive measures against terrorists are always effective.

Security area or state of emergency

Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan winds up the debate on the National Security Bill 2015, saying that the bill is based on Article 74 of the Federal Constitution. It empowers the Prime Minister to declare certain area in Malaysia as a security area. Whether it is declared a security area or a state of emergency, the most important is don't abuse the laws.

The House debates the National Security Council Bill 2015 which allows the setting up of the council. It gives the Prime Minister  the power to declare a state of emergency in an area. People are afraid that the Prime Minister is given too much power and that it is against Article 150 of the Federal Constitution. We need effective laws to fight terrorists. But, don't abuse these laws.

Mount Kinabalu

After the June 5, 2015 earthquake, visitors can climb Mount Kinabalu now. Is the height still 4,095 metres (13,435 feet)? We reached Low's peak about 20 years ago. We feel that the authorities must look after the mountain better. They must keep an eye on all activities including waste disposal effectively.

Redelineation of Sarawak electoral boundaries

Datuk Seri Najib proposes a motion in the Dewan Rakyat on the redelineation of electoral boundaries for Sarawak. For example, Kota Samarahan has 39,029 voters and Sadong Jaya 6752 voters. If the difference in the number of voters is less than 50%, the people may not have misgivings.
